![]() ![]() Compare it to 6/16/74 and we are not even in the same zip code. The song just rolls on, vocals are together, Garcia's lead is crisp & captivating and the band simply delivers. The Europe 72 version is one of the best Dead rendition of any song, period. ![]() Are we listening to the same tracks: Des Moines 6/16/74 () versus Olympia 5/3/72? Get real, this isn't even close and I don't care how much the Europe 72 tracks have been overdubbed > it's the final musical experience that counts. Sometimes this seems on purpose, and sometimes they go off the rails bit (headlight verse).įinal result: 74 by a nose.and by a landslide. Sometimes I concentrate on one part, and am amazed by it, only to realize that everyone else in the band is doing something equally awesome, completely different, yet united. Check the transition from Bobby soloing to Jerry soloing at about 6:10. Probably a key reason for the energy of the whole song. Billy grabs this from the start and owns it.
